    Opinions on T5

Thank you Sir Alex, I'll look into the website you've provided. I'm still not too sure about LED though. I love the idea, I'm just not sure that the technology is there yet though. For me that may be something to consider down the road in a couple of years or so.

Little Fish, Thanks for the recommendation. That's one I've actually had my eye on, but between the number of lamps, and not having heard anything from anyone using it didn't know if that would be a choice.

Thanks bjohanson1234, I wasn't sure if the six bulb would be too much for a 55 gallon or not. Any ideas for six bulb fixtures with Moonlights, fans, individual reflectors that have a good rep?

    Opinions on T5

R3verb, No I can't say that I'm completely set on T5. Alot that I have read on LED doesn't have me convinced as of yet though. There's too much back and forth on it, so much so that a newby like myself can get frustrated with what's true and whats not. As far as fixtures go I wouldn't even...

    Opinions on T5

Hello everyone, Recently I was throwing around getting an Odyssea lighting fixture. I've heard from a lot of people that they are good fixtures, but too I've also heard the other side as well. So this got me to looking into other fixtures. Now as luck would have it I can't honestly make...

Thanks little_fish, I thought it would be, but just wanted to make absolutely sure.

    Aquascaping

Hello all, With the intended move from FOWLR to a mixed tank, we've been thinking of moving around our rock. One of the ideas we've come up with was to add some rock to the back wall of the tank using the prime cuts from Marco Rocks. To do this we would need to use this: E-Marco-400 10Lb...

    Ways to lower Nitrate

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Bifferwine, I'm sorry to hear your no longer selling Cheato, but I am grateful for you pointing me in the right direction. Thank you. Bjohanson, you actually hit a point that my wife and I were just discussing a little while ago. We do need to add a bit...

    Ways to lower Nitrate

Thanks for the advice Ulta, I thought I read that someone on here sells Cheato, but couldn't remember who. I have a Reef Octopus skimmer, we clean the collection cup every other day, and I think it does a fantastic job. Thank you for your other suggestions as well. In time I hope to...

    Ways to lower Nitrate

Thanks, I've thought of setting up a refugium before with a spare 10g we have here, but my 55g isn't drilled so I'm not positive on how to set it up. Also I don't know where to get the Cheato. I've looked around but can't find it anywhere. Guess I'm off to do some more research.

    Ways to lower Nitrate

Hi all, I've had my 55g tank about 9 months now, and since we have started to really get the hang of water changes, testing etc, we've decided to start to really look at honing our water quality. Everything always tests good, but our nitrates always seem to run 20-30 ppm even directly...

Is this overkill on a 55 gallon?

Thanks for the advice Bifferwine. Unfortunately most of the 6 bulbs I have looked at are out of my price range at this time. Realizing I'll need to upgrade later on, what about a 4 light system? Odyssea T5 Aquarium Lighting I know there are better 4 light systems out there that are in our...

Is this overkill on a 55 gallon?

Marcah thank you again for the info. Our concern like you said is not being able to put the more demanding corals and anemone's in once we get to the point to do that. Our goal is to start very slowly with what we put in, but have the capability later on as we grow in experience to have such...

Is this overkill on a 55 gallon?

Thank you again, and no need to apologize these things happen :D. Since you said it will still be bright, do you think we could get by with a lower light set up, maybe even one without the MH? Just simply run T5's. I've looked around and haven't found any T5 set ups though that have a high...

Thank you for your suggestion Marcah, but I failed to see what you were referencing... Don't know if it's an issue on my end or not.... Could you post what you were referring to again please. Again Thank you. Kristian
