    Storming Ahead

Thank you so much for your comments. :D I thought I was taking it slowly by adding the fish slowly. One of the suppliers told me I could add as much coral at a time since it didn't affect the Bio Lode. My tank seemed to cycle quickly after the water was stagnant for that one day when I...

    What is this?

Thanks so much for the info. I checked out the link and after looking at so many pictures of worms found one that was exactly like the worm in our tank. They said it's a peanut worm.

    cleaner shrimp

That is interesting. Our tank is the opposite...the cleaner shrimp want to clean the fish, but the Purple Tang always swims away from them. :sfish:

    What is this?

It didn't look like any bristle worm we've seen. This worm seems to have no legs or anything bristly on it's surface..it is smooth. It elongates itself when feeding on coraline algae. The worm never left the confines of the rock it was stretching from. It has black rings around the translucent...

    Storming Ahead

Can anyone also tell what this is? It's yellow stuff growing on one of the rocks and is hard and seems to be adhering to the nearby rocks. Does this look like the start of mushrooms? We bought this rock with mushrooms on it and noticed these flower like things. Thanks for all the...

    What is this?

Can anyone take a look and let us know if this is a good or bad thing. Couldn't find anything that looks similar on the net. It seemed to be crawling out of a hole in a rock and eating the coraline algae off the nearby rock. Just for safety I removed the rock it seemed to be coming out of...

    Storming Ahead

We want to report that our tank improved rather quickly after are last posting. We have been somewhat patient. Amazingly we tested our tank one day and all levels seemed perfect so off to LFS with a water sample to confirm. Woohoo....we can add a cleaner crew. There was a particular cleaning...

    no circulation for 25 hours

Only live sand and rock was added. We got the rocks from a guy at a LFS (I assume he bought it from downtown LA). The rock was a combo of Figi, Marshall Island, and Tonga branches. He says the rock was fully cured. It had small feather dusters and sponges already growing on it as well as purple...

    no circulation for 25 hours

Started today by removing the muckiest rocks and brushing them down and placing them back in the tank. Installed a rotating powerhead and agree that water changes are necessary. Changing out 20 gallons today and removing all the dead stuff when I see it.Two days later will change another 15...

    no circulation for 25 hours

OK...I just had my 60G tank set up and added the live rock (80lbs) and sand. Tank ran around 6 hours before noticing a leak in the return line bulkhead fitting. In attempting to correct leak, the bulkhead snapped. Seeing that this happened late night, I was not able to get the part until the...
