    Yellow and Sailfin Tang

Any one ever had any luck with putting a yellow and sailfin tang in same tank. The tank is 265 gallons and the yt has been in for a month now and is the only fish in the tank. Would it help is the sailfin is slightly larger and/or slightly re-arrange the rocks before I add the sailfin? Thanks.

    Lunare Wrasse

I read it will bother any new fish and should be added last. Is it this aggressive even when this small?

    Lunare Wrasse

Hi all, Just bought a lunare wrasse, it is a really nice looking fish. It is small maybe a few inches. Has anyone had any luck with this fish? I plan on putting it in a tank with a yellow tang and want to add a large angel (koran), a trigger (niger or pink tail) and possiby another tang...

    Q tank set up

My Q tank has been running for a week. I set it up with a power filter on the back. The tank has no substrate, a heater, one small piece of live rock and a power head. I just read that I should not use a filter at all, just an air pump and an air stone. Should a Q tank cycle like a regular tank...

I am not familiar with that club. I am a member of the NJAS. Have you purchased anything from Aquarium Obsessions? Do the fish look healthy?

    Shocking Discovery

Figured out it was the heater in the Q tank and installed a GFCI adapter on the outlet. All is fine. No more shock.

    Shocking Discovery

My hunch is they are not becasue there are no reset buttons. I had an electircian run a few dedicated lines for my 265 tank over the summer and thought he mentioned that the outlets were GFCI becasue of their proximity to the tank, but I do not think their are those little black/red reset...

    Shocking Discovery

I will have to double check the outlets but will get some of those Shock Busters ASAP if they are not GFCI's. Thanks.

I would say I buy half my fish at the Tropiquarium in Ocean NJ and the other half from The Fish Tank in Saddle Brook. I buy 90% of my supplies online. I plan on starting a Reef tank soon, do you buy coral locally or on-line? If my wife knew how much money I spend on my fish and supplies should...

    Shocking Discovery

Yep. Thats what I thought would be an easy way to figure it out. The voltage issue only stops when everything is unplugged. The shock from sticking my finger in the tank is much more intense when I do not have shoes on. I have freshwater tanks a few feet away and there are no issues with those...

    Shocking Discovery

I had an elipse hood filter combo on it and replaced that with a Penguin power filter. I thought it was the power strip and replaced that too. I plugged the new power strip into a different outlet and still had the problem. I am going to get a voltage meter and do testing with that as I am not...

Hi all! I just joined living reef a few days ago and have already posted two questions. My son Zach (he's 8) and I have been in the hobby for 3 years. Last summer we had 9 tanks going at once (mostly in the basement). Due to work and other commitments, I am down to a 265 FOWLR, a 55 freshwater...

    Shocking Discovery

I set up a 29 galon Q tank yesterday. The tank has a power filter, a heater and power head. When I stuck my finger in this morning a got quite a shock from voltage in the water. I do not have a voltage meter yet but should have one this week to test the water. However, I tried to figure out what...

Is there any way to fix the monster I created?

I changed water slowly over a few weeks, a little evey couple days since it ways empty. The nitrates are now around 15-20. Thanks for the article. I am going to buy a voltage meter in about an hour and and a probe to the tank regardless of the meter reading. Thanks for your advice. I am...

Is there any way to fix the monster I created?

The first time I had losses in December, I had the tank running for 9 months and never lost a fish in that time. I changed a lot of water since first to lower the nitratres and also thinking there was something I had to flush out. When I added the 3 fish this last Saturday, I had the tank...

Is there any way to fix the monster I created?

Okay, thanks. I think I will let it sit for another month with the one fish in it and start again slowly. Thanks for your help.

Is there any way to fix the monster I created?

I test the salinity about once a week. It has never gone over 1.25 but does swing between 1.23 and 1.25 over a few weeks time. It raises a little with evap but I lower it back when I perform water changes (every two weeks about 10%). I regularly test with a hydrometer. I have a refractometer but...

Is there any way to fix the monster I created?

I am at my wits end. I have a 265 gallon FOWLR and started the tank March 2008. Had about 15 small fisn (yellow tang, cardinals, etc) up until December. I added 3 fish that were not quaranteened (I know already this was a bad thing to do). 30 minutes after the fish were added, the bigger fish...
