    What size return pump?

RC, I'm trying to make sure that I understnad you correctly. I don't want a pump that will do more than 800 gph correct? How many gph do I need to have to keep my water quality good. This is going to be for a 120 gallon tank. Thanks.

    What size return pump?

No I haven't bought any of the actual plumbing yet because I'm waiting to see what size of pipe, diameter wise, I'll need. I assume that you can pick up ball valve at any hardware/plumbing store?

    What size return pump?

I have an 800 gph over flow box to my sump and I'm trying to figure out what size return pump I'll need for my sump so that the flow is even. The change from the sump to the top of the tank is approximately 4.5 feet, and I know that there will be a head loss, and will need to compensate for it...

Please tell me how because everything I've seen it's going to cost me a few hundred dollars to do it. And personally I'm willing to spend more if it looks better. I've saved up for this for quite a while so money isn't a big of a factor.

I went and checked out the lfs and they have a Marineland Model 4 Sump for sale for 300 dollars. I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on these and if it's worth it at 300. The guy at the store told me they can sell for upwards of 450, but I just figured it was just to try and get me...

Haha I'm working on it. If I only got paid every day! :-D Yeah that might not work to well. I mean I'm used to hitting the balls out of the beach, but that might be a little tough.

Thanks....Well here's the tank. I'm still trying to figure out fish wise where I could go. I'm still a few months out before I get fish but I'm just trying to get some research done and suggestions before I go and buy. It's a big tank, so I know I could go many directions. Any suggestions?

Dang go figure. I went and measured my cabinet and I'm about 3 inches short of being able to put a 30 High into it. Looks like I'm going to be in the market of trying to find a different cabinet or try and make some adjustments to my current one. I may have to see if I can take the stand back to...

Haha I kind of figured that much. I wasted a little bit of time at work (oops!) looking them up. Since that fixes that problem, what is everyone's suggestion size wise for a sump. Also where are the good places to get some information on building one? Thanks

Would I be ok to start off on a filter and later move to a refuge? My current setup I have does not have any holes in it to allow for a gravity fed below, so I'm going to have to go above. Haha yeah this has been 2 years in progress, I've got a bit of money saved up for this.

Let me ask this much, would I be ok to start with a filter? Once I can build a shelf above my current setup, move to a refuge above my tank since I have no holes in my current setup and I'm leary of drilling holes in the aquarium. Haha yeah I've been preparing for this for 2 years, so I've...

I would but I'm not familiar with the sumps. Plus I had a bad experience with a sump and had a big mess on my hands with a freshwater tank that I had. I know it was the only time but I'm a little lery of sumps. Honestly I hadn't thought of that. Thanks. I'll have to see if I can work it in...

Haha I don't think an empty tank is much to brag about. I'm planning on taking pictures through this whole process and kinda blog/photo log it as I go so maybe it'll be easier for people after me. Don't know if it'll work but hey it's worth a shot.

I'm new to this in the since I haven't had a saltwater tank yet, but I've been doing my research. Here's what I've got and where I'm needing advice/tips. I purchased (last weekend) a 120 gallon tank and stand. I'm planning on purchasing a filter and protein skimmer sometime after friday (yay...

    New Here

Just thought I'd drop in and say hello. I'm new to the site but not the hobby (sorta). I've had a freshwater tank for the last 5 years. Recently due to a job change/move to another state, I had to leave my fish tank with my sister and brother-in-law and their two kids. Now that I've got...
