    Step one, water.

Thats pretty cool sen524. I visit the beach often. The zoo is right there by the beach along with many other things to do. Even though the water is freezing, and its usually raining. We get out there a couple times a month.

    New - Shallow Water!

Awww, I cant see the pic right now PRC. I'll check it when I get off work. Nobody will bad mouth you. YOu're on their side haha. Anywho I appriciate all your opinions, I really do. But I'll say what I said in another thread. Im going to setup the tub with everything but the critters, or...

    New - Shallow Water!

Its not actually a waterfall, its a powerful pump, but it has the long tube with the holes which I aim towards the water. It does an excellent job keeping the oxygen in the water (btw I am aware I will have to get a different setup) and I can still see into the water well enough. It does make a...

What do I need to buy?

Thanks guys. I might do both Little_fish. I may see how the waterland tub with just the water to see how that goes, and at the same time get a small 3-5gallon tank. Thanks Pwny, but its not my Oscar. I just found that one online cause im at work. But mine is a Tiger Oscar also. They are...

What do I need to buy?

Aside from a tank, can somone give me a list of easy to find (most likely able to find at a petstore) equipment for a 16gallon tank. I need EVERYTHING.

    Step one, water.

I am by the Pacific Ocean by the way, so what I meant (assuming its okay) is that I'd go get it myself. Im only about a 40 minute drive.

    Step one, water.

Wow lol. Did not know that. Here I was thinking I'd rent a boat, go out a little ways, get some water and use that. Is there a way to even test for bacteria even if one does get it from the ocean? I've read about bacterias in my fishing book that can make people sick or cause death, what if...

    Step one, water.

I read an article that said its okay to use ocean water to start your tank, so long as its clean, not in an area used by boats often or near docks etc, and you check the chem balance... Sooo...... Assuming I do that, what equipment do I need to get started to keep it going? Im brand new to...

    New - Shallow Water!

Besides, I dont think it would be any harder to see with marine equipment then with what I use now. Being I had a turtle in there, you must use filters that are for larger tanks, and I still saw clearly with my waterfall setup.

    New - Shallow Water!

Johno, the advice I have been given for the most part has been based on me seeing whats in the tub. Not based on them living or not. And it wouldnt be a mess, I understand what you are trying to say though. Yes, lets put an end to this non-sense. I have seen this done at the PD Zoo here...

    New - Shallow Water!

lol Johno, did not say I wasnt interested, just that its not my main concern. We all enjoy our pets in different ways. I have the money, time and space for my hobby. How I enjoy it is my business. No offense.

    New - Shallow Water!

haha, I understand totally. I just wanna get my feet wet first. If I decide its right for me, I may invest alot more money into a big tank. I like playing god (creating habitats and ecosystem) thats where I get more joy. Buying stuff, and making things somewhat natural.

    New - Shallow Water!

So I am confused, how come you can have a 1-3 gallon tank, thats just fine. But you cannot have a tank how mine is which is more than one gallon? Watching my fish swim is not my main concern. What I want is more for a hobby, just keeping them alive and happy. Surely you do not need to be able...

    New - Shallow Water!

Okay, well then the other option, instead of having it the way I wanted, with 1/4 land, and 3/4 water would be to just fill it up under the top of the entire deal. I can still have asnd on the 1/4 part and have that as a shallow end. That way I think the entire thing would be, more than enough...
