Do you have an ohm meter? If so check both ends of the lamp. Pull it out and ohm test the ends. Each side should read about 3.2-3.4 ohms.

OK, I see a lot of conversation about filter/no filter. If it causes nitrates to go up then why do you need to remove the wheels one at a time?

getting ready to start up a new tank, I have a Reef octopus (BH-100) on my fifty and was wondering what one to put on the 75?(HOB). I was thinking about the BH-1000?

Tore completely down, soaked in vinegar water for about an hour and a half, scrubbed, rinsed and blown out with air and back to normal.

Yes it's a HOB, BH-100 and no blue hose. looks like the 300 but with one chamber and pump. If I put my finger over the hose, the level rises quite rapidly so I am not sure about the priming idea.

It seems my skimmer level (water) on the output keeps rising. I cleaned the pump and everything with vinegar water. Cleaned the air inlet and it still isn't acting right. Seems my bubble production is down too. If I blow on the hose the level drops. Any ideas?

It's like watching american chopper only worse, and I seen some where they are in a hurry to add fish (personal experience....that doesn't work) very bad for fish people or to get people into it and I have yet to see any live coral going on...... bad show period.

interesting, because I have two of them and noticed yesterday one of them had a corner dug out, filled it in and within a couple hours it was dug back out.

well mine isn't getting any better, 3 water changes in less than 3 weeks maybe like 2 weeks and 2 days( 5g, 10g,10g), added purigen on saturday and just did another change today and still at 40, wtf. I am getting stressed:frustrat: also had the lfs test water with same results.

ok, made a top with the lens cover material (egg shell) was thinking of adding a layer of screen to but I noticed it seems to cut down on the light anyone else make one this way ?

ok, saturday I did another 10% change (5g) 2 weeks in a row now, nitrates were around 5 when I started (vacuumed a little sand) this morning I noticed the water a little cloudy and nitrates were around 20, what gives:frustrat:
