Harmless yes, And you can clean them out of your filters and things with hot water and scrubbing. However, If you are seeing a lot of growth you might want to check into your feeding habits and make sure that your phosphates aren't getting too high.
I was thinking. I started storing my rodi water in a brute rubbermaid garbage can I picked up specially for that purpose. Could the container be causing the problems I'm having? (see previous thread https://www.livingreefs.com/tank-woes-continued-t47618.html) At this point all of my corals...
well the head has fully detached now. I dont suppose that if I found a spot on another rock and rubberbanded it down that it would reattach? I'm guessing it's a lost cause?...

phosphates were measured by some electronic device at local fish shop and they told me I was double what I should be. But that doesnt register on my drip test and I dont remember the actual number.

I have a yellow torch with about four heads and one of the heads looks like it has detached itself from its base. Almost like its peeling itself off. I'm assuming this is something I should be worried about but I have no idea what to do or waht might be causing it. Any help?
I havent tried lights out. I think he said phosphates were around double what they should be.
I know that would cause the cyano but wouldnt the cyano and the corals be flourishing? Dont both use phosphates?

I'm lucky enough to have 3 lfs's within about 30 minutes of my house. I got some rock from each. No new rock has been introduced in 8 months to a year though.

So previously I posted about a cyano problem and got a couple peices of feedback. Too much light (lfs told me this)
Too much food
Too many fish.
I reduced my light so that my white bulbs were running for about 3 hours a day. Actinics are running nearly 12.
