400w mh

I am planning or getting some new lights for my tank very soon before i start adding more livestock to the tank. I already have a 400w MH light and i was wondering if it is normal to only have MH on one side or should i put the money down to just get two? Right now im looking at a HO T5 fixture that would stretch the full length of the tank and then put the Mh on just one side.

If this is for your 55 then that 400w MH is way too much for your tank. If you add a T5 fixture your tank would be fine with just that.

The one right down the center works just fine. A 250w would actually be perfect. If you put the T-5 on the tank, there really is no need for the 400w.

As of right now i have a T5 fixture that isnt HO and i plan to get an HO but the 400w will be free to me so would it be worth my time to put it on there or would it have negative affects?

You'd have to hang it pretty high for it to not burn your corals.

If you do this, you will have SO MUCH LIGHT surrounding the tank. I hope it's not in your bedroom! :mrgreen:

To stop this see if you can mount it in a box of some sort and use this reflector. Batwing

Or this one. The Batwing you can bend your self to get the light where you want it. Or this one thats enclosed already.
