55 gallon canopy help

I have a light system that would go over my 55 gallon tank(Not up an running yet) but the legs of it make it so I can't cover my tank so fish can't jump out. So I want to build a canopy but I don't know how to build one or fit in the light. Any advice on how to build it?

Dimensions:
Tank: 48"L x 12.5"W x 20"T
Light: 47.5"L x 7"W

You could always try this instead of building a canopy (watch the videos on this page)

I like that but my light has legs that need to go into the tank(poor design) So I need a canopy to hold it. It is also for looks of the tank.

can you suspend it above the tank from the ceiling?

I would rather not as I might have to move it to a new place in a few years so a nice simple canopy is what I am looking for. So any articles on how to build a canopy I would love.
