What is the largest size acrylic sheet I could buy for building an aquarium?

I know there are factories around here that have sheets that are 2" thick and are 8' x 16'

What would the correct thickness be for a 8' tank?

My LFS has a display tank that is 8' long. He had it custom built with 1/2" acrylic to avoid any bowing. It looks amazing. He said it cost him an extra $1000 or so for the extra thickness.

If it is 8 feet 1/2 can work, but how deep do you plan on making the tank 24"?

If the tank is going to be to deep you might want to go thicker and even with 1/2" thickness your going to want to make sure you have some type of braces on the top (eurobrace, etc).

At 24" deep 1/2" is iffy IMO.....Definitely has to be eurobraced or it'll bow.
