Got a few pieces of my live rock out and scraped the hairy green algae off I hope I didn't mess anything up

As long as they didnt go dry you should be fine. What I have done in the past was when I did a water change put the rock in the water I just took out scrubbed it with a tooth brush rinsed in the second bucket of changed water and put back in the tank. It helped keep it down until the water parameters came in check.
