I've read on several sites and aswell on the forum that some anthias "Help draw out shier fish that share the tank with them." Is this true? And if so how do they accomplish it?

Anthias are always on the look out for predators,since they are open water swimmers.So as long as the anthias is out swimming,the other fish know its safe for them as well.

I have also read that they do better in groups. Since they are open water swimmers, there is safety in numbers

Yea, my fishes used to just all hang out at a corner. Every since I added a pair of Anthias, every single fish, even the most shy one came out. All swimming around the entire tank. What a big different!!

According to Dr foster's site, the Resplendent Anthias is the most peacful of them.
