Bartletts....spawning? I heard they spawn right after lights go out. Maybe they are practicing?

I've witnessed the spawning behaviour (even if it was without actual spawning - a mimic if you like) of bartletts which is a series of fast swims from the bottom of the tank to the top - much like regal tangs or other fish that spawn on mass. The female goes first and releases the eggs, the fastest male manages to go up straight after and fertilise her eggs by releasing his sperm.

Were they doing this? It looks like a possibility in the last photo but the jaw locking is a sign of aggression.

Lovely fish and images though :)

Mine has been with me for over a year and a half. They haven't done none of that especially the lip lock.Great pics, btw!

Curious though, how aggressive are the clarks to the anthias? My pair was so aggressive they were nipping the tails off the anthias. They had to go.

I don't know the spawning habits of open water spawners, so I don't know if they actually pair up like egg layers. When my clowns 1st paired up, they showed the same lock jaw fighting and I know from my days in f/w and cichlids, locking jaws is pretty common with mated pairs.

The clowns don't both them, but they will go after any fish that comes near the anemone when they are guarding their eggs.

Play some seventies porno music!
Maybe I can find the soundtrack from Deep Throat...lol
