Beginner's Light?

Hey all, should i get the 36" 328W Metal Halide System Extendable Series for my 38g or would a 36" 117W (3x 39W) T5 HO Trio Deluxe Light Fixture w/Built-in Digital Timer do the job. I do want coral later when i am more experienced. Fast answer before wifey finds out what i am about to order.

The halides would let you keep anything you wanted. The T5's would limit you pretty severely.

Hey all, whats the preferred time for lights.

full strength 8 to 10 hours a day then I run just the actinics for 1 hour before and one hour after....
Example: I run actinics at 8:00 am to 9:00 am then full strength until 7:00 pm. then actinics to 8:00 pm

What thermometer is good for a 38g? I got the taped one but kinda hard to read

You could either get a glass one with suction cup or a digital one with probe. I like the digital, easier to read.

I would look into a nice digital also... accurate and easy to read..
