hey guys. i had a 75 gallon tank that i had to take down because i needed the room. I picked up a biocube 29 that came with a protein skimmer for $150. Im gonna set it up in my dining room next week but i want to do it right. It came with bioballs but i dont want to use them. I read about people putting live rock where the bioballs would go. can you also put cheato in there?

Sure can! Just make sure the cheato is getting some light and flow

This is how i would set it up. The first set up with the media fuge.

This light should work great for growing cheato in the back chambers and it can go in water. Also from the same place.

Why about the protein skimmer

So if I get the media basket what would be best to
Put in there ? Live rock, cheato and what else. I think I'm gonna do the media basket and a Tunze 9002 Protein Skimmer.

For that size tank you really dont need a protein skimmer, you can get away with just water changes

Lil fish has you covered. If your committed to doing water changes and your running cheato(it'll help with your nitrates) in your back chamber you don't need one.

so does everyone use what they recommend for the media basket?

Middle shelf : Purigen 100ml
Bottom shelf: Chemi Pure Elite 11.74oz tied to middle shelf

and what is everyone putting in the fuge basket.

I don't think you'd need to use the media 24/7. Purigen and ChemiPure are both pretty expensive, and you'd spend a fortune running them all the time.

what maintenance due you have to do with the Purigen and ChemiPure for a bio cube 29

It has to be changed out on a regular schedule. As I said, that will get expensive... Purigen and ChemiPure aren't cheap. Most people don't run them 24/7.
