Bought a used setup, need opinions please

I've read that finer sand is the only good kind for a sand bed,do you think I should supplement some finer sand when I use this?

It doesn't look like crushed coral to me. Not really sure what type it is. I would still go with sand but it's up to you.

It's not up to me, it's up to you guys. I have no idea what I'm doing. :) Looks like I'll throw it out and get real sand.

Does anyone think that this stuff will seed some plain sand like live sand would?

Also, how long do you think I can keep the live rock in an unlit tub without ruining the coralline?

coraline thrives in low light, as long as you dont give it prolonged exposer to air the coraline will be fine

I think it's crushed coral. I'd still toss it.

It's funny!None of us is 100% sure if its aragonite or crush coral.

To be on the safe side,use mostly new aragonite sand and just use a few pounds of the old stuff to seed the new.
