Brittle Star?

Can anyone tell me for sure if this is a Brittle Star or not? I have been stalking these little guys for quite some time and have been documenting what I have seen. I have for you two pictures of their tentacles that protrude out of the rock. I have what appears to be 10 or possibly countless more in my tank.

Is there any drawback to having an abnormally large population of little ones?

I had hundreds (maybe even thousands) in my tank. My kalk overdose last spring killed them all. My sandbed was a graveyard -- covered with them. They are good critters to have around.
