Looks like a short tentacal plate coral to me

Ya Id either say a plate coral or maybe a st.thomas mushroom? either way nice piece!

How big is it? A plate coral wouldn't be able to hold on to a rock.

It's about 4 and a half inches across fully extended. I was told it was short tentacle plate. Just wanted to confirm with y'all.

Doesn't look like any short tentacle plate coral I've ever seen. And plate corals will always stay the same size around -- they don't contract or expand. Plate corals also can't hold on to rocks. It looks like some sort of mushroom to me.

I had it on the sand but it's getting too big.

It gets nice and expanded like that and if I mess with it it shrivles up real small and hard.

I think that st Thomas might be it. I wonder if it's a specific type? I'm trying to put a value on it.
