Cleaning Protein Skimmer?

So, I clean my protein skimmer collection cup every week. But, it gets corraline build up inside it where I can't reach. What is the best way to clean it out? I have heard vinegar, but no idea if I should use straight vinegar or what mixture etc.

Any advice on cleaning would be really appreciated. Thanks!

What kind of skimmer is it? If its an in sump skimmer you can use a mix of vinegar and water.

I keep about 2-3 gallons of water in a 5 gallon pail with about 4-6 cups of plain white vinegar to clean my equipment and it works well. If its pretty bad pull it out and put it in a pail or tub with vinegar and water let it run if you want far a while and let it soak and then clean it out with what ever brushes and cleaning equip. that you have (dollar stores are great for stuff like that), rinse it well and put it back in.

It is an in sump submersible type skimmer, I will give that a try, thanks.

I clean all my equipment with vinegar, straight, no water. It will take off almost everything and have your stuff looking new again.
