Boom goes the Dynamite
I got some dead live rock off a guy. I bleached it. How do I get the bleach out of the rock. Will baking it in a oven do the trick. Or what about boiling.

oh you never want to bleach rock or anything in your tank, the beauty of live rock is that it has alot of tiny little holes that absorb and provide a home to bacteria , even if you think that all the bleach is out it can and probably will seep slowly over time because its absorbed into the rock, sry to say but i wouldnt use that rockanywhere near my tank and i advice you to not use it eighter

if you do buy dead live rock again , just boil it no need to use bleach

maybe im overrreacting and someone will probably advice you better :D good luck

Let the rock soak in freshwater with dechlorinator in it for a week or so,rinse and repeat.Do that until there is no bleach odor then soak for one more just to be sure.

That is the exact process we use to bleach and clean problem tanks at the LFS since we do use dead rock in our displays.

+ Everyone. I wouldn't bleach it again. Lesson learned this time! Boiling will take care of any unwanted crap on the rocks and won't cause long-term problems.
