my tank crashed and now i only have one of my clowns left can i put another clown in with him in the new tank or is that a no go?

Just make sure it is a lot larger or smaller than the one you have and you should be fine.

I assumed the crash was a good amount of time ago. If it was recent I'd be concerned.

Good point,but would still be good to know what happen,so it doesn't repeat itself,and they have learned from the mistakes they may have made..

I added a sump with the wrong silicone, Which caused the crash. And now I cycled a completely different tank.

Sounds like you have livingreefs approval to proceed with a new fish.

Make sure the new fish eats before leaving the LFS!

Make sure you buy the same type of clown as the one you have already.

What everyone stated larger,smaller and same species works usually unless they are maroons.

It can work with a pair of Maroons, too. I have a beautiful pair of yellow striped ones.

I just did this.... I purchased 2 picassos...and one died on arrival.

After several months looking I finally found one.. I added the new guy (I made sure he was smaller) and they were the best of friends almost immediately. Occasionally there is a grumble at feeding time but nothing bad.
