coraline algae

Hello, i am new to the sight looking forward to being a member. So I finally got a bunch of coraline algae coming in but a lot of it is starting to turn white around the edges. Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

I've notice my coralline turning white when it is exposed to air or light. When I remove a powerhead that has coralline on it, the algae turns white. Also, when I do a water change, some of the rock towards the top of the tank is closer to the tank lights and some of it turns white.

Hello and welcome to the site...glad to have you aboard. That's normal for coralline algae...it'll turn red/pink again.

Asterina (sp) stars eat coraline also, so if you have them, that could be a source too

yep just exposed to air will make it do that it will come back fairly soon

appreciate the input. ya its been happnin for a while but is keeps growing so now I can rest a little easier. I have done fish only for so long, but reef for a few years now, and ya its quite the learning experience.
