Couple Questions...clean up and

First tank and it seems to be cycled, all the levels spiked and are back with in parameters....I have green hair algae as well as diatoms on the sand and the rocks look a darker color. I am looking for some advice on what and how much I need for a clean up crew. I have a 12 gallon nano, with live rock and sand. When doing water changes should I siphoning the detrius off the sand or will messing with the sand change the natural filtering?

In the nano you should siphon the detritus it will help with water quality. Personally I like snails for the bulk of the cuc with one or two hermit crabs. Reefcleaners.org has some nice packs.
