Are lights... required?

I have my tank (2 clowns, ~130lbs LR, 110 gallon display) in a very sunny room in Georgia, next to a window. Are lights important?

If so, what's the least I could get away with?

If you only want to keep fish, then any light will do, even sun light. But it might not show off the pretty colors of the fish, but you dont need anything fancy for lighting.

If you want to keep corals then you are going to need some sort of additional lighting. I would get a metal halide setup for your larger tank

Like little fish said, you can go really cheap on FOWLR lighting. You could get something like this: Aquarium HO T5 Florescent Light Fixtures: WavePoint HO T5 Fluorescent 2 Lamp Lighting System

Having your tank close to the window may cause algae problems in the future.

My tank was next to an east-facing window. I never had algae problems...

With lights you will DEF enjoy your tank more. Grab some lights and illuminate that baby!
