Does my mushroom have worms, or is it "pooping"?

I bought my first corals today. After a long journey back, I bathed and rinsed them and put them in the tank. A few hours later, one of the mushrooms opened and there was a long, white, worm-like thing near its center. It appeared to be coiling. However, another similar post online received the comment that it is "pooping", of sorts. Is this true? I'm bathing it a second time just to be safe.

What do you mean by bathing and rinsing it? I wouldn't bathe it again. Hopefully it's pooping and not having a reaction to it's bath. :confused:

Sounds like it's expelling it's "stomach" to feed. No worries. If it were pooping it'd be, well.... brown.

Yeah, what do you mean by "bathing"? Freshwater dip?
Are there any other corals next to it, because that could also be it's defense mechanism.
