Anyone tried dropping powdered cal or baking soda into their tank with an auto-feeder?

I would be leary of howmuch it would drop. I tried an autofeeder once. It would drop a ton of food. But it was a cheap one not one that had a compartment for each day.

Yep!
I have my Kalkwasser hooked up to drip thru my float into my sump. this seems to work pretty well. You just need to make sure that it doesn't clogg every other week or so.
