Frag experiment

That is some really interesting and awesome growth! It's fascinating that the original frag you laid down hasn't done much, but the encrusting area around it has really taken off! Thanks capt for a superb topic and for sharing your growth shots.

It's definitely interesting how it's growing. In a year it went from about 1" to totally encrusting that rock (about 4"x4") and it probably has 18" total verticle growth from all the new branches. I just wish I did it with a nicer looking coral. The frag was from the 1st acro "stag" I bought at the LFS a few years ago. It was small and brown when I bought it, now it's big and brown....:dunno:

I don't have it anymore. I donated it to the "Tanks In Schools" program our reef club sponsors. It is currently in 1 of the Williamsport, PA High School reef tanks.

ok, I think I'm missing the point.... how was the orientation of the frag different than the "normal" way? and what's normal, anyway? :mrgreen:

It was laid down flat against the plug. The normal way would be to keep it erect.
