Getting Sand Clean

well my favorite way is a sand sifting goby just because they are really cool to watch and they keep the sand sturred so that algae doesnt get the chance to grow... anything from hermit crabs to nar. snails will keep the sand clean but gobies are my personal fav because they are fun to watch

I had a Ward's Sleeper Goby, but he was bullied so I had to get rid of him. I have some hermits and a turbo snail. They keep the rocks clean, but not the sand

If you have hair algae, you either have a nitrate or a phosphate problem. I'd try to get to the route of that before relying on an animal to take care of it. Do you use tap water? Do you overfeed? Are you overstocked?

Yes, new tanks are prone to a cycle of algae problems -- usually diatoms, cyano, then hair algae. You should remove as much of it by hand as you can. If it dies off in the tank, those nutrients are just getting re-released back into the water.
