Greenwater?

You need to keep it in constant motion. If you don't have enough water movement, the phyto in the water column will settle on the bottom. The stuff in clumps is most likely dead -- it suffocates as it gets covered.

That's why if you keep bottled phyto in the fridge, you're supposed to shake it once a day to keep it suspended in the water column and prevent it from settling on the bottom.

This is in a 2liter bottle with an airline in it , but its growing in clumps , the clumps are getting bigger, so ya think its dead? this making greenwater people say its easy but im having no luck.

Do you have a stone at the end of the air line? If so, take the airstone off. You still need to shake up your bottle to keep it in suspension. When I was growing phyto, I'd give a gentle back and forth once a day to keep stuff off the bottom.

The clumps are getting bigger because the phyto that is growing in the water column and is alive is eventually settling on the bottom, piling up on the stuff that is already there. The clumpy stuff is probably not alive.
