Heater placement

This is probably a dumb question but I have never had a tank with a sump before.

where should i put my heater in the display tank or in the sump?

Either place. Most put theirs in the sump. I have 1 heater in each overflow, but I might move them to the sump. It's just a matter of preference. Make sure you put it in the part of the sump where the water level stays constant, otherwise if you forget to top off the water, you'll bust your heater.

awesome ! i was hoping i could place it in the sump, i love not having all the equipment hanging on the back of tank, it looks better and maintance on the equipment is so much easier.

That's why most of us have sumps..hehe...plus it makes water changes easier.

I have 2 heaters and they are tucked in the baffles in my sump. They fit perfect and are out of the way.

I have mine hidden in my sump too. Easier to get to it if there is a problem.
