Hi guys, my name is Rick and I am very, very new to saltwater aquariums. I am in the researching and learning stage right now. I want to learn as much as I can before I start spending any money on equipment.

My only aquarium experience is with freshwater tanks about 5 - 10 years ago. I know that saltwater is a whole different world. :)

welcome and ask any questions you may have.
salt is not as hard as some people may think. for starters you will want the biggest tabk you can afford. then think about 1-2 pounds of live rock per gallon. you can do half and half live rock and base rock. look into getting a good skimmer stay away from seaclone and red sea prizm skimmers they are not worth their weight in paper. lighting can be very expensive depending on what you are wanthing to do with the tank if it is a reef or fish only.
