hello everyone, My name is James and I have a 180gal reef aquarium. I started with a 65gal
how my 180 is 4mos old,but I'm just having a problem with brown alge it stick to the back of the tank and there is lots of diatoms. This is normal right?

Did you start your tank with tap water? That can prolong how long you have diatoms.

Hello and welcome to the site...glad to have you aboard. You live in the same area as my favorite lfs(Aquatica). I agree with lil fish, using tap water will cause that problem, and/or excess nutrients in the tank.
