Hish Ammonia but no Nitrite or Nitrate??

I am cycling a 50 gallon saltwater tank. Right now there is 35 pounds of fiji rock and it is partial live and partial not. I have two 750 gph fans in the tank moving the water The bed of the tank has 1" to 2" of caribean sand. There are two shrimp in the tank for the ammonia source.

I have been testing the tank and these are readings below. If you notice, I am getting a full 8+ppm ammonia reading but no nitrites or nirtates. Is it normal fo the amonnia to spike all the way before any traces of nitrite or nitrate are detectable? Thanks

every cycle is different, but nothing on your chart seems concerning

I hope you had a good vacation. Thanks for looking at results. I am excited about seeing the cycle! Bring on the nitrites and nitrates...LOL :)

I knew this would happen. Sure enough, the day after posting this I performed another test and started to get a .25 reading on the Nitrite. Looks like things are going well. Like always in this subject, patiance is everything.

I'm up to a .5 on the Nitrites! Yipee!
No Nitrates though:)
