How long will my water be cloudy?...

Was wondering...after putting water in your tank for the first time...how long before it clears up?

Thanks!...what "chemically" is happening when the water is cloudy like that?...particulates, gas exchange, all the above?...I'm assuming its looking for some sort of homeostatis or something when new water is added?

um...chemistry is not my strong suit. Right now you have mixed up a whole bunch of sand and it is just settling. a day and a half at the max. I saw improvement in 8 hours when I started my 90. I had my powerheads running as well. some people do not like to have current during this time, but I do.

to help clear up faster I run a HOB filter on the tank and clears up within hours.

I officially started "pumping" at 10:30 this morning...I see a bit of clearing (like in the corners of the tank)...I'll wait until later this evening and see what we're looking like then

It's nothing to worry about as you need it to cycle anyway

Mine took about 2 days or so to become crystal clear

The cloudyness is caused by fine sand particles.It can take anywhere from a couple of hours to 2 or 3 days.But it'll eventually settle and you'll have clear water.
