Sep 22, 2010 #5 koda_dad Mr. Paranoid Baked :) Now according to the reef chemistry calculators... to raise my low alk of 5dkh to 7 I need to add approx 1.5 tsp. (in 50 gallons) Just me or that doesnt seem like much? I added a 1/4tsp tonight to my top off...Ill test tomorrow and see where I am at. Thought?

Sep 22, 2010 #6 yote In Memoriam What I normally do when dosing baking soda.Is mix it in a cup of fresh water.Then I'll just add a little bit ( a touch over 1/4 cup ) every few minutes.Usually takes me about an hour doing it that way,but it dont spike the PH way up real quick.

Sep 23, 2010 #9 koda_dad Mr. Paranoid Baking it changes it from Sodium BI- Carbonate.... to Sodium Carbonate If you use the unbaked stuff it will lower your PH, the baked stuff will raise it slightly.
