Ocean acidification is also a potential threat to reefs. As everybody knows it doesn't take much of a change in chemistry to start causing problems with reefs.

Well, those big guys at the commercial fishing companies don't care, but they will care once they have no more fish to catch because they disrupted the food chain and symbiotic relationships -- starting with reefs, one by one, we will start losing species that rely on each other to survive. On hindsight, they will sey "Oh...guess we should have listened".
