LED bulb types

Anyone have any knowledge of using the philips LUXEON led vs cree led? I came across these today and haven't seen much up about, the philips that is, but have seen tons on the cree's. Trying to decide what sort of DIY I'm going to do.

Also, how far above the tank do you mount the heatsink with the LED lights on it?

I have seen some people use Luxeon LEDs in DIY fixtures, but the standard (at least for whites and blues) are the Crees

Height above the tank depends on how many LEDs the fixture has and what optics they are running. Generally, the wider the optics, the higher you need to hang them. My AI units (three of them) with a mix of 70 and 45 degree optics are 12 inches above the water to get adequate coverage in my 180

My tank is 4" L 1" W/D & 18" tall. I'm trying to figure out what two heat sinks I need to get enough light if I do an LED system. I'm thinking two of the 5"X9" should be big enough if I can get it up high enough to get enough life to both sides. Any insight would be awesome.
