Level off a tank

What's the best way to level off water in an aquarium. The 55 gallon i have is setup but i noticed that from one side to the other there is about 1/4-1/8 inch difference in water level. What's a good way to get this leveled off. Im using a custom made 2x4 stand, but I know for a fact its my floor that is a little off.

Shim under the stand, the same way you would level kitchen cabinets.

you will have to drain it then shim to get level. i had to do it mine but i wanted to redo my rocks so i killed 2 birds with one stone

How long can i let it go before I need to shim it. i'm away from the house for 2 weeks with work. LIke I said its only 1/8-1/4th an inch difference so i dont think it'll cause to much stress.
