lighting help

Hi Guys,

i have recently set up my first saltwater set up which is currently cycling my tank is a:

aquaone aquagrande 120, 285ltr tank

what im trying to figure out is i currently have 3 x 36inch 30 watt lighting tubes, and after doing research i would be best with t5's

does anyone know if these will just click in place where the old tubes were or would i need a new over head unit to house the lights?

It depends on the ballast in the unit that you currently have. I think most bulbs have a little sticker on them that tell you what kind they are, what you have sounds like T8's to me, they are used a lot with freshwater tanks. If they are T8's I believe the ballasts are NOT interchangeable - which would mean you either need to swap ballasts on your current fixture, or get a new fixture meant for T5's
