Here is a noobie question...Do I need special lights if just have live rock, sand and fish??...If I'm only going to have fish for now, regular lights will do right?? or does the rock need to have special lighting?...

Nope, if you're just doing a fish only tank, you can use the lighting that comes with those tanks. You only need special lighting for reef tanks.

Yep, it is expensive. It's a good way to go about doing things -- just get your tank started off with fish and rock, and save up for new lights in the meantime. By the time you are ready to try your hand at corals, you'll have had time to save the cash you need.
