how much live sand should I have in my tank and is it ok to add it to an already estableshed tank

I think it's 1-2 lbs per gallon

dont bother with live sand, its a waste of money. Just get dry agronite (sp?) sand, it will become live in your tank in just a few weeks and then you will have more money in your pocket for the good stuff, like corals!

I bought a 20lb bag of that black live sand and it was only $20 and I didn't even use it all in my 10 gal.

I would buy dry aragonite for $20 like Hannah said. I used about 1 lb/gal. Live rock is about 1.5-2 lb/gal.

if you add live sand to your established tank it might start a cycle, go with dry
