Live sand question

I am bringing in a new 135gal tank to replace old scratched tank. I plan on using live sand. Any info or suggestions would be helpful. What kind sand? how deep? grain size? I've seen tanks with many small white starfish, is that from the sand?
I run a reef tank with corals and fish, mostly soft corals because of experience level.
I have a 135 18x25x72

I figure 2 years at this size then into something bigger. My current tank has been up a bit over a year and is very healthy.

All you need is aragonite sand IMHO I don't feel live sand has much or any live bacteria living on it For the fact that sets for some time in warehouses and then on the stores shelves grain size I say about sugar size and depth at least 2" unless you want to run a deep sand bed then at least 6"
