Live Sand

You don't need to use live sand, it's cheaper to use dry sand and the live rock will eventually make it live. Also, you should put the rock in first right on the tank bottom. If you put the rock on top of the sand, when critters dig in it or the sand shifts it will cause a rock slide.

I have already purchased the live sand, so I am just going to use that.I am going to get some sand from my friends established tank to help mine cycle faster. So LR first then sand. Thanks for the reply :)

I would not use just sand. To many silicates and glass and crap in it. That would scratch up the under bellies of anything that you got for sand sifting purposes. And you could put in either one you wanted first, if your not using eggcrate on the bottom for the Live Rock.
