Low PH?

I have been having lower then normal PH probems. From all that I have read it may have something to do with us using the heater more? Everything else is great but I would like a little higher PH goes from 7.8-8.2.

PH 8.0 normal is 8.4ish

7.8-8.2 pH is perfectly fine. During the winter in colder climate areas where houses are closed up and have furnaces blasting out heat, there is typically more co2 in the air. It's this co2 which can bring down the pH. Your parameters all look fine so I wouldn't look into adding any buffers, which will also affect your alk.

If you want to try to raise your pH, see if you can somehow get an airline coming from outside to feed your skimmer. The fresh, lower co2 outside air should help raise the pH in your tank.

i had the same issue but i just used an air stone and air pump and put it in my sump and it seemed to work out ok
