MH bulb blown?

I had my lights on as usual and just had a blip in the power (actually heard something blow outside). ANyways, power kicked back on but my MH light is not turning on now. How can I tell if the bulb was blown out? It doesn't look black but not sure if these do that when they blow. How do I know if it's a blown bulb or posibly the ballast?

Do you have a voltage tester? You could test the output of the ballast.

If you don't, you will need to swap lamps out to see if it is the ballast.

It could be an internal fuse that blew.

Actually I just flipped it back on just to see if it would turn on and it did. Running fine. Must have some kind of shutdown thing in it and doesn't turn back on for a certain time or something. Weird.

Could have been too hot. A lot of them have an auto shut down. When the fan got turned off, the unit could have over heated.

Mine won't turn on for 10 minutes if it was just shut off. I had it opened and didn't see any PCB's or time delays so I chocked it up to a bimetallic strip somewhere.

My old mh fixture would do the same, had to cool down before it would fire up again..
