Can you any double ended MH bulb on the K-2 Viper lamps, or are they proprietary?

You can use any double ended bulb of the correct wattage. Brand and color temp won't matter.

As Brian has said any double ended <HQI> buld of the proper wattage will work.
What wattage model do you have? Im VERY partial to Radiums.

I've got the 70w. The reason I was asking was because I was talking to a company about a 14000k 70w double ended replacement bulb and they told me theirs wouldn't fit, so I thought I'd ask just to make sure.

That's odd, all DE bulbs are the same dimensions, wonder why they say it wont fit?
