I used 3 different brands at one time once, No ill effects.
I have been listening to an old podcast called reefcast, believe it stopped producing back in late 2009 or so. The guy who did it is melev from Melevsreef.com - Welcome! , a well known sump maker and poster on a different forum.
Anyway to the point, on their reefcast they did a story about a company who did a blind testing of the various salts on the market and the results showed that various types of salts have way varied amounts of minerals and such in them. Basically what was said that you are probably actually better in mixing salts to get the best mix. They didnt name the brands but just thought that was interesting.
