My 55, 55, 40, 40 set up...

Okay so here is what I did...I have two display tanks, a 55 and a 40 breeder. Then I used the other 55 as a slum and the other 40 as a fuge. I also have a 20 tall that is growing plankton.

Here you go...

So let me try and explain all this...Top center is my 55 display tank, under it is a 55 which I use for a sump with lots of dry rock, including some lava rock, which should all be alive by now...to the right is my 40 display tank...to the left is my green water on top, which I use for water changes...which gives me a crazy number of pods in my tank...and below it is a 40 sump, where the pods are safe to make babies...lots of babies...:mrgreen:

Very cool, but be careful with the lava rock. Lava rock can leach back out all sorts of nasty stuff that can either be toxic to inverts or cause algae issues.

Okay well I guess I should explain how this all works...The water gets pumped from the sump to the 55 display tank...then it overflows and gets split, some goes to the 40 display and some goes back to the sump...the water from the 40 display overflows back to the sump...and I have a canister filter running carbon that pumps water to my fuge, which overflows back to my sump...make sense?:razz:

It's what it's made of and what's inside it -- it can be composed of metals and phosphates, and even if you clean it, that stuff will get into your water over time.
