My Clown Fish

i just bought a new clown fish 3 days ago and every night when i turn off the lights he stays swimming around the top and floating around on his side. the next morning he doesn't seem to have very much energy but within 10-15 minutes he is swimming all over the tank. is this normal

its been known to happen where is your heater located?? How much surface agitation do you have?

my heater is on the top and back of my tank and i have a power flow which provides a pretty good current

Whats the temp in your tank? I've heard of fish doing this when the water is to cold. Also what size heater do you have and what size tank?

This is also a sign that there is not enough oxygen in your water. If you keep a lid on your tank, take it off, and position the powerhead so that it ripples the surface and gets the air and water mixing a bit.

the temp in my tank is 78 and i have a 30 gallon tank

You said you have current, but is that current breaking the water surface? What are your perameters? Is anything off?

yes if you do not have enough surface breakage then you will have lack of oxygen.

the best thing you can do is if you have a composition notebook make it into a journal and log your expierences good and bad that way if it happens again you have reference to it.
