Myrtle Beach Pufferfish

I was on vacation at Myrtle Beach SC this past week and this puffer washed up right beside my leg in the ocean. He was alive but died very quickly. Could someone identify it? I guess he had been beaten up pretty badly before he got to me.

It's a box puffer. What a cutie! Sad that he didn't make it. :(

I felt so bad for him. What are the white and orange patches on him? Just where he had gotten scraped along something?

I don't know. He definitely looks injured -- that discoloration on his rear isn't healthy looking. If he was washing up on shore, he was in a bad way.
